What to Expect from your Visit

An amazing collection of working instruments

Our collection of working instruments, inventions and interactive exhibits tell the story of how music has been recorded and reproduced, from mechanical inventions to the present day, arranged over three unique galleries plus a concert hall.

Guided Tours

While you can wander freely around the collection, it is only when accompanied by our dedicated volunteers that the Museum really comes alive, combining practical demonstrations with an entertaining and informative narrative, answering any questions you may have along the way.

What Next?

The tour takes just over an hour; then you can grab a nice cake, tea (or something stronger!) in our café, with views looking over the river. Stop by our gift shop on the way out for some fun musical souvenirs, then you may wish to visit the nearby London Museum of Water and Steam.

Location & Travel

The Museum is close to Kew Bridge, on the north side of the Thames. The best way to travel to the Museum is by public transport. You can easily find us by bus, main line train and London underground. Discover more below:

Underground & Bus:

Take the District Line to Gunnersbury, then the 237 or 267 bus, alighting opposite us at the "Musical Museum" bus stop (we are a 10 minute ride away). Alternatively, catch the Piccadilly Line to South Ealing, then the 65 bus passes the Museum.  Click here for TFL Journey Planner.

Bike:

We have a small cycle rack available in front of the Museum, and Brentford High Street is part of cycleway 9, a "cycling superhighway" connecting Kensington Olympia and Brentford Town Centre via Hammersmith and Chiswick.

Train:

From London’s Waterloo Station travel to Kew Bridge, via Clapham Junction. Turn right when leaving the station and the Museum is a 5 minute walk.

Car:

The Museum is easily accessible from the M4 and the North & South Circular roads. Our car park is small, so spaces are limited and availability is not guaranteed. To ensure you're able to park, you can reserve one of our spaces for a small fee via Just Park. Other independent spaces are available in the local area (see Hounslow Borough Council and Richmond Borough Council websites); paid parking can also be found at nearby hotels.
